iStaffing is currently hiring for a Food Manufacturing Company located in Gardena.

A Safety Coordinator’s primary purpose is to minimize all job-related accidents. Under limited supervision, you will oversee the plant’s in-house safety program and provide support on Workers’ Compensation. With this intention, you will spread safety (OSHA) awareness, promote occupational health awareness, and eliminate hazardous activities by monitoring operations and developing/emphasizing safety policies. You should be well-versed in all OSHA dictations, diligent, analytical, detailed, and be sensitive toward potential dangers.
Duties & Responsibilities
● Investigate accidents and determine the root cause of accidents.
● Investigate and review reports of injuries, property damage, non-employee accidents,
automotive and industrial accidents, and departmental claims, initiating appropriate
action.
Identify and Correct Potential Health and Safety Hazards
● Participate in regular safety audits of operations to reduce occupational safety risk
factors.
● Evaluate the effectiveness of the existing safety program.
● Prepare, maintain and analyze reports on safety performance and activities to make
recommendations regarding employee safety.
● Identify and select the use of PPEs.
● Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
● Oversee safety measures are being fulfilled in day to day operations.
Develop and Enforce OSHA Policies
● Keep consistencies of state and federal laws, directives, standards, and codes dealing
with employee safety and health.
● Develop and revise company safety policies and programs.
● Update OSHA 300 Log.
● Organize and conduct OSHA training plans.
● Liaison between insurance carriers, state and federal agencies and emergency services
regarding safety and health on OSHA matters.
Qualifications
● AA degree required, Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
● Knowledge of California’s industrial safety regulations (required).
● In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines, practices and required training.
● Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel & Word with the ability to learn new
systems.
● Excellent communication and advisory skills.
● Must be able to work independently with a proven record of follow-through, teamwork,
and accountability.
● OSHA 30 Certification.
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in Safety, preferably in a food manufacturing setting.
● Bilingual in English & Spanish (Required).
Working Conditions
You will regularly work in and out of a refrigerated food processing plant. Temperatures in the Production and Warehouse areas are as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit. For this reason, you will be expected to enter the Production and Warehouse buildings with warm attire and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at any moment.
